Star limit explained
The star limit is the real decision-maker in Command An Army: it is the reason you cannot simply field your four strongest troops. It is two limits at once, and most guides only mention one of them.
Four equipped entries
You equip a small number of entries, reported as four. An entry is a loadout choice, not one soldier - it does not tell you how many bodies appear on the field.
A combined star cap
Every troop costs stars, and the total of your equipped entries must fit under the cap your Units menu shows. This is the limit that actually forces trade-offs.
How the cap grows
Two independent creators describe the same progression: the star limit rises by one every five levels and caps at 15 stars when you hit level 50. One of them shows the intermediate step as 14 stars at level 45, which matches that slope.
Treat this as a slope, not a table. No source publishes a complete level-by-level chart, and the game has been patched repeatedly. The number that matters is the one printed in your own Units menu - that is why the solver asks you to type it in rather than guessing from your level.
A worked example
Say your cap is 13. Fire Archer costs 3, Spartan 4 and Lancer 4, which is 11 stars across three entries - leaving 2 stars, enough for a 1-star Mercenary, Shieldman, Spearman or Archer as a fourth entry. Swap that 1-star for a 2-star Scout Rider and you are at 13 exactly. Swap it for Crossbowman instead and you hit 14, which does not fit.
The four mistakes
- Counting only free slots and ignoring the star total.
- Saying yes to an automatic selection without checking the result on screen.
- Swapping a troop out without asking which job disappears from your army.
- Using a remembered or borrowed cost instead of the live value in your menu.
A five-second pre-match habit
Before every match, count your four entries and add their stars. Two numbers, five seconds, and it catches the most common loadout mistake before the game starts instead of after you have lost the first fight.
Star limit FAQ
- How many troops can I equip at once?
- Community reports describe a limit of four equipped entries. A slot count is not the same as how many soldiers appear on the battlefield - one entry is one loadout choice.
- How does the star limit grow?
- Community sources report one extra star every five levels, reaching 15 stars at the level 50 cap. There is no reliable published level-to-cap table, so read the value your own Units menu shows.
- Can three entries be over budget?
- Yes. The entry count and the combined star cost are separate limits. Three expensive troops can exceed the cap while four cheap ones fit comfortably.
- Does owning a troop mean I can equip it?
- No. Ownership, a free entry slot and the resulting star total are three separate checks. Failing any one of them blocks the equip.

Every video below passed two checks before it went on this page: it resolves through YouTube’s own oEmbed endpoint, so the title and channel shown are the real ones, and it ships English captions, which is where the points beside it were read from. Nothing here is described from a thumbnail or a guess.
HOW TO INCREASE STAR LIMIT (how does star work) in COMMAND AN ARMY Roblox

- Frames the star limit as a squad budget: every troop carries a star value and the equipped total cannot exceed your account's limit.
- Draws the distinction our own pages lead with: you keep owning high-star troops you cannot equip yet, because the cap only applies to the four slots you are actually using.
- Explains the most common confusion directly: a unit that refuses to equip is usually not broken, it simply pushes the total over the limit.
