Command An Army units

Every troop name we can trace to a source, with its reported star cost and battlefield role. Where only one source reports a value, the card says so instead of pretending it is settled.

Reading a unit card

Each card shows four things worth checking in order. The star cost decides whether the unit fits your budget at all. The role tells you which job it fills in a four-slot army. The confidence badge tells you how much to trust the two numbers beside it, with two sources meaning independent agreement and single source meaning one creator said it. And the evolves flag tells you whether there is anything to invest duplicates into, because a cheap unit with a strong evolution is a far better long-term pick than a cheap unit without one.

How we label unit data

Star costs and roles in this database are community-reported, which means two or more independent sources agree on them. Anything reported by a single creator is marked as a single source and treated as unconfirmed, and anything with no source at all simply does not appear. That is why the roster here splits into two lists rather than pretending to be complete: it is better to show a gap than to fill it with a number somebody invented.

Two practical notes follow from that. First, star costs change with evolution, and most evolved forms have no reported cost yet, so a unit that fits your budget today may not fit it after you evolve it. Second, the game is patched weekly: if a value here disagrees with your own Units menu, your menu is correct and the page is stale. Both facts are the reason the army builder lets you edit every cost rather than trusting the defaults.

Named by creators, not yet costed

These troops appear in gameplay footage and in the counter discussions, but no source reports a star cost for them. They are excluded from the army builder pool until a value can be traced.

  • CrossbowAppears only in the official 2026-09-13 patch notes. No unit list carries an entry for it, and neither its role nor its star cost is confirmed.
  • MortarA ranged suppression unit, suggested as the ranged answer when cavalry is not an option; its range sits below Imperial Wall.
  • ShielderA shield-type unit named in play, appearing alongside Halberdier.
  • HammerA unit category that counters shields, and also the name of a commander class.

What are the best units in Command An Army?

There is no single best unit in Command An Army, and any list that names one is answering a different question. Your army is limited by star cost and by four equipment slots, so the best units in Command An Army for your account are the strongest four that fit the budget you actually have. A unit that is excellent at 15 stars is useless to a player capped at 8, and a cheap unit with a strong evolution often beats an expensive one that never evolves.

That is why the Command An Army units list above is sorted by star cost rather than by strength. Use it to see what each troop costs and which role it fills, then take your star limit to thearmy builderto get an actual answer for your budget, including the second and third best combinations and the reason each one is ranked where it is.
